Heart Hospitals and Cardiac Specialists in Iran: How to Compare the Right Team
A heart diagnosis does not point automatically to surgery. This guide helps international patients check ten Iranian facilities, ten direct professional registration records, a public USD tariff, recovery needs and the questions that should be answered before paying or travelling.
Tehran offers several published cardiac pathways. We include one Mashhad option for comparison. Start with the diagnosis and the appropriate heart team, then consider travel.

How we selected these options. This informational comparison draws on published facility service pages, direct Iran Medical Council profiles, Hamintour’s coordination experience and patient feedback where available. It is not a paid advertorial or a ranking based on independently audited outcomes. A facility’s website establishes what it publishes, not that it can accept your particular case or provide a given procedure on your travel date.
Urgent symptoms come first. New or severe chest pain, breathlessness at rest, fainting, stroke symptoms or an unstable rhythm calls for immediate local emergency care. Do not delay evaluation to arrange an international trip. Only a licensed treating team can decide whether medicine, a catheter procedure, surgery or another plan is appropriate.
Match the clinical question to the right team
Coronary artery disease
An interventional cardiologist may assess whether a catheter procedure is appropriate. A cardiac surgeon evaluates whether bypass surgery could serve the patient better. The alternatives also include medicines and risk-factor management. For complex multivessel disease, the American Heart Association guideline summary emphasizes a Heart Team approach and surgical risk assessment. Send the angiogram images and report, rather than a procedure name alone.
Valve disease
An echo report should identify the valve, severity and heart function. Ask whether observation, medicines, repair, replacement or a catheter approach is under consideration. If replacement is proposed, establish which device is available and the long-term anticoagulation and imaging plan. A published operation price may exclude the prosthetic valve.
Rhythm and device care
A rhythm specialist may need ECG strips, a Holter report and medication history before considering ablation, a pacemaker or an ICD. Ask which device model is proposed, who programs it, how remote checks work, and who will manage battery or lead problems after you return home. The implant procedure is only one part of ongoing care.
Vascular and congenital conditions
Peripheral artery disease, aneurysm and adult congenital heart disease require different teams. Children need a pediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery pathway. Do not assume that a hospital advertising “cardiology” also performs complex vascular or congenital surgery. Ask which unit and named clinicians will review the scans, anatomy and risk.
For background on the treatment journey and questions to take to a consultation, read our Heart and Vascular Treatment in Iran guide. If another operation is proposed alongside cardiac care, our general surgery guide helps frame coordination questions; the cardiac team must still approve timing and risk.
What can actually be checked?
A hospital name alone does not establish a specialist’s availability or a good outcome. Use four checks: the exact service on the facility’s own website, the clinician’s direct professional-registration profile, a case-specific written plan, and a quote defining ICU, devices, complications and follow-up. Ask whether the same clinician both recommends and performs the intervention, and whether a second opinion from another discipline is appropriate.
The Iran Medical Council profile is evidence of registration and listed credentials, not a performance score or proof of a present hospital appointment. Hospital rosters can change. If a center offers a success percentage, request its denominator, dates, procedure definition, risk mix, follow-up period and independent audit. Without those details, percentages cannot fairly rank providers.
We avoid an exact Google Maps pin unless the branch and entrance can be verified. Use the facility’s linked contact or location page and match the address in your written appointment before travel. A location search result is not an address confirmation.

Ten cardiac professionals with direct registration records
The professional titles below are translated from the previously checked Iranian Medical Council records; confirm the current record yourself. A hospital link identifies where a clinician has been published, not a guaranteed appointment or endorsement by Hamintour. Some hospital directories shorten names. Match the registration number with the full name before booking.
| Doctor | City | Registered field or fellowship | Medical Council record | Facility evidence | Useful question |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dr Somayeh Nabavi Chashmi | Tehran | Cardiology | 81864 | Published facility page | Clinical assessment and testing |
| Dr Shahram Pourtabib | Tehran | Cardiology | 104553 | Published facility page | Clinical assessment and testing |
| Dr Mohammad Abazari | Tehran | Cardiology | 12754 | Published facility page | Cardiology consultation |
| Dr Afshin Ghaffaranieha | Tehran | Cardiology; adult interventional cardiology fellowship | 29040 | Published facility page | Intervention versus medical care |
| Dr Sina Moradmand Badie | Tehran | Cardiology | 18306 | Published facility page | Review of medical management |
| Dr Mohammad-Hossein Mandegar | Tehran | Cardiovascular surgery; general surgery | 18211 | Published facility page | Cardiac surgical opinion |
| Dr Ramin Baghaei Tehrani | Tehran | Cardiovascular surgery; general surgery | 38045 | Published facility page | Cardiac surgical opinion |
| Dr Parisa Manouchehr-Tayebi | Tehran | Cardiology | 83747 | Published facility page | Diagnosis and follow-up |
| Dr Reza Moftakhari Kashaninejad | Tehran | Adult interventional cardiology; cardiovascular medicine | 57913 | Published facility page | Suitability for a catheter intervention |
| Dr Rababeh Bayat | Tehran | Echocardiography fellowship; cardiology | 69895 | Published facility page | Cardiac imaging and structural assessment |
Cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists and cardiac surgeons do different work. Use the credential and case need together; a list of names cannot choose a treatment. For surgery, ask both the cardiologist and surgeon to explain why their recommendation fits your imaging, symptoms, other diseases and preferences.
A decision table you can use with any center
| Question | What to obtain | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Is the diagnosis secure? | ECG, echo, angiogram or CT images and reports; current medication list. | A procedure cannot be compared fairly until the condition and severity are clear. |
| Which alternatives were discussed? | Written opinion on medicines, catheter intervention and surgery where relevant. | For complex coronary disease, Heart Team discussion may change the recommendation. |
| Who delivers each step? | Named consultant, operator, anesthetist and critical-care team. | A department website is not an individual care plan. |
| What is the quantified risk? | Individual risk estimate, comorbidities, expected ICU need and what could change the plan. | “Routine” for one person may be high risk for another. |
| Which costs are excluded? | Device and valve model, ICU nights, blood, imaging, drugs, reoperation and companion costs. | Published base prices are not full travel budgets. |
| Who follows up at home? | Cardiology appointment, device checks, anticoagulation plan and rehabilitation referral. | Care continues beyond discharge and return flight. |
Published USD cardiac prices: use them as questions, not promises
Kasra Hospital’s own international-patient tariff publishes several USD cardiac entries. Its labels include apparent typographical inconsistencies in the angioplasty rows, so we do not treat those rows as reliable procedure quotations. The clear entries below are examples from one facility, not observed Hamintour patient quotes, national averages or a guaranteed bill. Request an itemized price for your actual imaging and operation.
| Kasra tariff item | Published USD | Listed hospital stay | Ask what is included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coronary artery bypass graft surgery | $15,625 | 1 week | Number of grafts, ICU time, blood, complications and rehabilitation. |
| Cardiac valve replacement | $15,625 | 1 week | Valve type and device charge, anticoagulation and later imaging. |
| Electrophysiology study and ablation | $5,625 | 1 night | Rhythm diagnosis, catheter supplies, anesthesia and repeat procedure policy. |
| Pacemaker or ICD operation | $7,500 | 2–3 nights | Device model, leads, programming and home-country checks. |
Check the original Kasra international-patient tariff and request a new quote. The tariff describes broad categories; it does not prove that a valve, stent, lead or longer ICU stay is included. Local-currency prices for Iranian residents are not used here.
Country examples for coronary bypass
This table compares published examples with different scopes, not the same medical package or clinical outcome. It is useful for framing questions, not declaring any country universally cheapest. The UK conversion uses about $1.33 per £1 solely to put the example on a USD scale; exchange rates and package terms change.
| Country and published example | Approximate USD | Critical difference |
|---|---|---|
| Iran · Kasra Hospital international tariff | $15,625 | Listed CABG procedure and one-week stay; exact inclusions require confirmation. |
| Turkey · Acıbadem published country range | $9,000–$16,000 | General hospital-group estimate, not a named case-specific package; parts may differ. |
| United Kingdom · Cromwell Hospital fixed-price starting package | About $56,300 | Converted from £42,340; package includes specified professional and hospital fees, with terms. |
| United States · MDsave displayed national upfront average | $78,580 | Marketplace figure; provider, inclusions and eligibility must be checked. |
Source names for the cross-country examples: Kasra Hospital international tariff; Acıbadem International cardiology comparison; Cromwell Hospital CABG self-pay package; MDsave CABG price page. Prices are approximate comparison points, not matched quotations. Country, facility, devices, treatment complexity and travel costs differ. The published Turkish range also shows why a universal “Iran is the cheapest” claim would be unsupported.
Request a case-specific written comparison
After reviewing the price questions, send the diagnosis, current medicines and available test reports. Hamintour can help request a preliminary provider review and compare itemized replies. An inquiry is not a medical opinion or treatment booking.

Plan the entire journey, including return-home care
Before deciding to travel: Obtain a diagnosis from your local doctor, gather echo and angiography images in a format the receiving hospital can read, and ask whether an in-person visit could change the plan. Do not stop antiplatelet medicines, anticoagulants or other prescriptions without the treating team. Ask your local cardiologist who will manage you after you return; a cardiac operation should not become an isolated one-week trip.
Before treatment in Iran: Expect the team to review records, examine you and repeat tests where needed. Check the exact facility, surgeon, procedure, device availability, anesthesia and ICU. A change in findings may lead to a different treatment or cancellation. Keep flights flexible and obtain a written emergency contact. For a major operation, the US National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute describes inpatient recovery and weeks of healing; your own surgeon determines fitness to fly.
At discharge: Collect the operative report, implant or valve details, medication plan, anticoagulation or device-check instructions, wound-care advice, follow-up appointments, and a contact for complications. Arrange medically supervised cardiac rehabilitation if the treating team recommends it. Recovery needs can be more important than sightseeing. A companion may be helpful, but should not be assumed to replace qualified care.
Entry, insurance and security conditions can change. Confirm visa and entry requirements through the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, check your own government’s current travel advisory, and ask your insurer about overseas cardiac treatment and medical evacuation before booking.
Why we do not use cosmetic “before and after” photographs here
A scar photograph or an angiogram screenshot does not establish survival, cardiac function, relief of symptoms or long-term graft and valve performance. Publishing dozens of pictures for this comparison would create a false impression of evidence. Ask for the relevant test reports, a specialist explanation of expected benefit and risk, and outcome data with a clearly defined patient group if a center can supply them. Patient privacy and consent also matter. The hero illustration is decorative and makes no clinical claim.
What hamintour Medical Tourism can coordinate
Hamintour is a medical-travel coordination platform, not a hospital, clinic or medical team. We do not diagnose, prescribe, operate, certify a hospital’s results or guarantee a medical outcome. Our role is to help an international patient organize questions and records, identify possible providers, request an initial review, compare written offers and coordinate practical travel needs after a treating team accepts the case.
Depending on your request and the care plan, we can help arrange consultation appointments, flights, suitable accommodation, airport reception, transport between the hotel and hospital, an interpreter or patient companion, tests ordered by the doctor, support during the stay and communication with the treating provider after you return. Any tourism activity must fit the medical team’s restrictions; rehabilitation and follow-up take priority.
Ask for medical charges, Hamintour coordination charges and optional travel services to be separated in writing. Compare our quote with another quote for the same hospital, clinician, procedure, ICU assumptions, device and follow-up. A cheap headline figure is less useful than a complete plan. Read about our medical-travel platform, the heart and vascular landing guide, and the medical magazine. You can also send an initial question by WhatsApp.
Frequently asked questions
Are these the ten best cardiac hospitals in Iran?
No. These ten facilities have published institutional information useful for an initial comparison. We do not have a shared, independently audited outcome dataset to rank them. Match the diagnosis, team and care pathway instead.
Is a stent always less risky or better than bypass surgery?
No. Anatomy, diabetes, other diseases, symptoms and individual risk can change the choice. For complex disease, ask whether a multidisciplinary Heart Team reviewed the options.
Does the public $15,625 CABG price cover every possible charge?
No. It is one hospital’s published international-patient example. Ask for a written case-specific breakdown of surgeon, anesthesia, intensive care, medicines, blood, tests, extra days and complication policy.
Can Hamintour guarantee the lowest price?
No universal lowest-price guarantee is offered here. We encourage you to compare our itemized offer with genuinely equivalent proposals and ask us to clarify each difference.
How long should a bypass patient stay before flying home?
The hospital stay and recovery vary by the operation and patient. The treating surgeon must assess fitness to fly and arrange follow-up; do not use a generic package duration as clearance.
Are these cardiologists all cardiac surgeons?
No. The list includes cardiologists, interventional specialists and cardiac surgeons with different registered credentials. Check the role relevant to your condition.
What should happen after I return home?
A local clinician should have the operative report and medication plan, and arrange cardiac rehabilitation, anticoagulation, device checks or other monitoring when indicated.
Three starting points suggested by the published evidence
These are practical starting points, not a claim that one has the best survival outcomes:
- Tehran Heart Center for a specialist cardiac-center inquiry, because its own service page describes assessment, disease management and rehabilitation.
- Shahid Rajaei Cardiovascular Medical and Research Center for a referral involving a specialized cardiovascular pathway. Check the center’s official site and obtain a named team’s acceptance.
- Kasra Hospital when you need a public USD tariff as the starting point for an itemized international-patient quote. The displayed price is not your final bill.
Whichever route you explore, seek a case-specific assessment and a follow-up plan in your home country before committing to travel.
Sources and editorial limits
Facility and physician links appear beside each entry. Clinical context uses the American Heart Association, NHLBI and cardiac rehabilitation guidance. The Iran price is a single hospital’s published international tariff; country examples have different inclusions and do not establish a national average or a universal price advantage. Verify the live source, registration, procedure, admission, visa, insurance and travel conditions before payment. This guide is general information, not individual medical advice. Read the Hamintour medical-content disclaimer for the site’s broader editorial limits.
