Fertility Centers and Doctors in Iran: Compare the Care Behind the Clinic Name
Fertility treatment can demand repeated visits, rapid decisions and a great deal of trust. Before choosing a center, find out which tests are needed for both partners, which laboratory will handle the eggs and embryos, how success is measured, what a cycle really costs and who answers questions when you return home. This guide places ten Iranian center pages beside ten direct professional records to help you ask those questions clearly.
Information for planning; it cannot replace a clinician’s diagnosis or legal advice.Compare the care pathway, not a slogan
Start with a clear medical question. Infertility may involve ovulation, the uterus or fallopian tubes, sperm production or several factors together. The American Society for Reproductive Medicine recommends evaluation of both relevant reproductive systems, including semen analysis when applicable, instead of assuming the female partner alone needs testing. It also distinguishes when evaluation should begin by age and risk history. Your clinician decides which tests are appropriate for you.
We focus mainly on Tehran because multiple fertility programs, specialist teams and travel services can be compared within one city. Rasht and Ardabil provide alternatives for readers with a referral or practical reason to look elsewhere. Ten providers are listed as a research shortlist, not in order of clinical quality. Each has a direct original institutional source, but service availability, laboratory staffing and admission for nonresident patients must still be confirmed with the provider.
Ask each provider the same questions: Which clinician will assess both partners? Who runs the embryology laboratory? Which tests can be done in your home country? How are eggs, sperm and embryos identified and stored? Which part of the cycle is priced? What happens if stimulation is cancelled or there is no embryo to transfer? Who handles urgent symptoms after egg retrieval? The UK fertility regulator’s clinic-selection guide explains why rates alone should not decide the choice; its standardized UK data are a model for questions, not a score for Iranian centers.

Some provider pages describe a service without stating whether all laboratory stages happen on site. Some may accept only particular patient groups or require referrals. An appointment, quoted price or legal eligibility should never be inferred from inclusion in this list. Verify the exact program and current address with the center before paying for travel.
Ten clinicians with direct professional records
These are professional profiles, not a claim that every clinician has an open appointment, is employed by a listed hospital or is the person who would treat you. Check the official record again before booking and ask the center to identify your lead physician, embryologist and any male-factor specialist by name.
| Clinician | Published context | Registered field | Medical Council number and direct profile | Provider source |

Several Royan specialists appear because its own site has separate women’s infertility and male-factor rosters. This gives readers a useful way to identify the right specialty; it does not make Royan the only or necessarily the best choice. If a center proposes treatment, ask for the actual clinician’s registration and current affiliation. A registration number proves neither live-birth outcomes nor suitability for a complex case.
IVF costs in USD: separate a listed fee from your full bill
Public international-patient offers for Iran vary widely. A useful concrete reference is the Pooyesh Fertility Clinic’s original USD fee sheet. It lists an IVF/ICSI procedure with fresh embryo transfer and limited embryo freezing at $2,200, and a package version at $2,700. It also lists IUI at $200, or $600 as a package. These are historical published examples from a center outside our ten-center shortlist, not current Hamintour quotations or a Tehran market average. The sheet’s package inclusions need to be read in full and verified directly.
| Illustrative Iran item | Published USD example | Ask what is included |
|---|---|---|
| IVF/ICSI with fresh transfer and limited freezing | $2,200 procedure; $2,700 listed package | Medication, scans, anesthesia, laboratory, freezing and storage term. |
| IUI | $200 procedure; $600 listed package | Stimulation, semen preparation, monitoring and repeat cycles. |
| Egg or embryo storage, donor-related care | Individual current quote required | Eligibility, consent, testing, storage renewal and legal documents. |

Selected country examples for a standard IVF discussion
These rows show public provider figures with different contents; they are not national averages and cannot be compared as identical packages. The Iran example is lower than the selected Türkiye, UK and US starting figures. That is a reason to request an itemized Iranian offer, not proof that every Iranian clinic or complete treatment journey is the cheapest.
| Provider location | Approximate USD public example | Important difference |
|---|---|---|
| Iran, one fertility clinic | $2,200–$2,700 | Procedure and package figures differ; not a quote from the ten listed centers. |
| Türkiye, hospital-group market guide | $3,000–$5,500 | Package range; medicine and extras can change the bill. |
| United Kingdom, one private provider | From about $4,550 | £3,500 converted illustratively at £1 ≈ $1.30; check drug and add-on costs. |
| United States, one academic fertility center | From $17,600 | Fresh-egg IVF without genetic testing; medicine and anesthesia extra. |
All prices approximate and subject to change. Source names: Pooyesh Fertility Clinic, Acibadem International, Care Fertility and NYU Langone Fertility Center. The conversion is illustrative, not a live exchange rate. Eligibility, services and inclusions vary.
Request a quote that lists consultation, tests repeated in Iran, stimulation medicine, ultrasound monitoring, retrieval and anesthesia, ICSI if indicated, embryo culture and transfer, genetic testing if clinically indicated, freezing and storage, cancellation or second-cycle charges, accommodation, transport and interpretation. The NHS fertility-treatment guidance recommends a personalized, fully costed plan for private care. Compare a Hamintour-coordinated offer against other written plans of the same scope; we cannot honestly guarantee the lowest total price for every case.
Request a preliminary review and itemized quote
After reading the cost breakdown, send a concise summary of both partners’ history, prior fertility treatment and the timing you can travel. We can coordinate contact with an appropriate provider. A form response cannot diagnose infertility, select medication or promise a pregnancy.

IUI, IVF, ICSI and related treatment paths
A comparison should begin with evaluation, not automatic booking of IVF. Depending on the history, clinicians may review ovulation, ovarian reserve as an adjunct to other findings, tubal and uterine factors, semen analysis, previous pregnancies, miscarriages and prior treatment. The ASRM evaluation guidance explains why tests should be selected for the case rather than sold as a universal bundle.
| Path | When it may be discussed | Question for the treating team |
|---|---|---|
| Initial investigation | Before selecting treatment or when a known risk factor is present. | Which tests are clinically useful and which results from home can you accept? |
| IUI | In selected cases after diagnosis and assessment of sperm and tubal factors. | What monitoring, stimulation and cancellation criteria apply? |
| IVF | When the diagnosis and prior care justify fertilization outside the body. | Who supervises stimulation and the laboratory, and what is the transfer policy? |
| ICSI | Where the embryology team finds it appropriate, often for certain male-factor circumstances. | Why is ICSI proposed for us and is it included in the price? |
| Male-factor evaluation | When semen analysis or history suggests a male-factor contribution. | Is a reproductive urologist needed and are further tests justified? |
| Recurrent loss review | When pregnancy history meets a clinician’s definition for investigation. | Which tests or treatments have evidence for our particular findings? |
| Fertility preservation | Before potentially fertility-damaging treatment or in other selected circumstances. | What is the schedule, storage agreement and plan for future use? |
Do not start or stop hormones because of generic website advice. The clinician must explain stimulation risks, including ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, and what symptoms require urgent assessment. For patients undergoing cancer care or treatment of a chronic illness, the fertility plan must be coordinated with the relevant treating specialist.
Ask what “success rate” actually means
A clinic may report biochemical pregnancy, clinical pregnancy or a live birth. It may divide by cycles started, egg retrievals, embryo transfers or patients. Those denominators are not interchangeable. Ask whether frozen transfers are included, whether results are split by egg age, donor versus own eggs, prior treatment and diagnosis, and how cancelled cycles are counted. The US CDC’s ART reporting guide shows why patient characteristics matter. The HFEA likewise cautions against treating a clinic figure as a personal prediction. Neither source supplies an audited success rate for the Iranian centers here.
Ask about single-embryo transfer and the risk of multiple pregnancy. The HFEA risk information describes multiple birth and ovarian hyperstimulation among important risks. Ask how the center decides on the number of embryos to transfer for your circumstances and what happens if no eggs are retrieved or no embryo develops. A testimonial or baby photograph proves neither your chance of a live birth nor the center’s overall results. We therefore do not present fertility before-and-after images as evidence.
Optional laboratory or immune treatments should come with a clinical rationale and evidence discussion, not only a fee. The HFEA treatment-add-on ratings show why an attractive-sounding extra may have uncertain benefit for most patients. If a provider recommends an add-on, ask what problem it addresses in your case, what the evidence says about live birth and what happens if you decline it.
Prepare a short file before contacting clinics
A concise file makes a first review more useful and protects you from paying twice for tests that could be accepted from home. Include ages of both partners where relevant, length of trying to conceive, pregnancy and miscarriage history, cycles and medicines already used, operative reports, recent ultrasound or imaging, semen analyses, key laboratory results, chronic conditions, current medicines and allergies. Keep dates and measurement units with every result. Ask the chosen center which original reports it needs translated and whether tests have to be repeated because of age or laboratory standards.
Do not send intimate records to a public social-media comment or an unknown intermediary. Use the facility’s designated channel and ask how your information is stored and shared with the clinical team. For cross-border treatment, also ask who holds the original consent forms, gamete and embryo records, and what documentation you receive to continue care at home.
Plan travel around the clinical cycle, not a fixed holiday
The schedule may depend on the menstrual cycle, stimulation response, laboratory timing and the clinician’s decision about a fresh or frozen transfer. A remote coordinator cannot promise a fixed transfer date before the clinic evaluates you. Ask which visits are mandatory in Iran, which monitoring may be done near home, how rapidly results must reach the team and what happens if a cycle is postponed. Book flexible travel where possible.
Before departure, obtain a written treatment summary, medicine plan, laboratory report, details of any stored eggs or embryos, emergency number and pregnancy-test instructions. Ask who will interpret a positive or negative result once you are home and who will arrange early-pregnancy care. If you develop severe pain, marked bloating, shortness of breath, fainting or heavy bleeding, seek urgent local medical care. The HFEA complication guide gives context; your own treating team must provide personalized warnings.
Check entry requirements on the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs e-visa portal. Check the UK government advisory, US advisory or your own government’s current guidance before paying for travel. Rules, safety conditions and insurance coverage can change. A medical appointment does not remove nationality-specific restrictions.
Donation, surrogacy and cross-border records require separate checks
Egg or embryo donation and surrogacy involve medical eligibility, consent, identity, parentage, citizenship, storage and documentation questions. Availability described on a provider website does not establish that a particular international patient can use the service. We do not infer eligibility from a package advertisement or translate a domestic rule into a promise for a foreign traveler.
Before paying a nonrefundable fee, ask the treating institution in writing which pathway is available to you, what documents and consents it requires, how samples and embryos are identified and stored, and what records it will issue afterwards. Obtain independent legal advice on Iranian law and the law of your home country, especially if a child’s birth registration, nationality or movement of embryos or gametes could be involved. This section is a planning checklist, not legal advice or a guarantee of access.
How hamintour Medical Tourism supports the journey
hamintour Medical Tourism is a medical-tourism coordination platform, not a fertility clinic, hospital or treating medical team. We do not diagnose, prescribe hormones, select embryos or perform treatment. Licensed clinicians and centers make clinical decisions with your informed consent.
Our role is practical and transparent: help organize your records and questions; identify relevant center options based on your treatment needs, preferences and budget; coordinate an initial provider review and appointments; request a written plan and itemized quote; help with flights on request, accommodation, airport reception and transport between hotel and clinic; arrange interpretation or a patient companion if needed; and help keep communication open during the stay and after you return home. Investigations are arranged when the treating clinician orders them. We can help convey questions to the center, but we cannot replace urgent local care or promise pregnancy.
Ask us to identify what is a provider fee, what is a Hamintour coordination service, what is optional and what is excluded. You can compare our written offer with other offers of equivalent scope. We aim to make decisions easier to understand rather than promise an unsupported lowest price. Learn more about the hamintour Medical Tourism platform, our role and services, the Infertility Treatment in Iran guide and the medical magazine. You can also ask a first question on WhatsApp.
Frequently asked questions
Are these Iran’s ten best fertility centers?
No. This is a source-checked shortlist for comparing services and questions, not a ranking by audited live-birth outcomes. The best option for you depends on diagnosis, egg age, laboratory pathway, legal eligibility and continuity of care.
Does the article guarantee an IVF success rate?
No. A clinic must define whether its number means biochemical pregnancy, clinical pregnancy or live birth and whether the denominator is a cycle started, retrieval or transfer. Your personal probability needs a clinician’s assessment.
Can I receive an exact IVF price before travelling?
A clinic may give a preliminary estimate, but medicines, laboratory techniques, freezing, tests and cycle cancellation can change the total. Ask for a dated, itemized quote after your records are reviewed.
Do I have to travel for the entire cycle?
Sometimes monitoring or tests can be performed at home, but this depends on the treating clinic’s protocol, how rapidly the response changes and whether it accepts outside results. Arrange the plan before booking flights.
Are donor eggs, embryos or surrogacy available to every overseas patient?
No such assumption is safe. Ask the clinic for written confirmation of current medical and legal eligibility for your circumstances and obtain independent advice in Iran and your home jurisdiction.
Can hamintour choose my treatment?
No. hamintour Medical Tourism coordinates provider contact and travel arrangements. Diagnosis, medication, laboratory decisions and consent belong to the licensed treating team.
Why are there no before-and-after photographs here?
A picture of a couple or baby cannot verify a treatment, clinic attribution or live-birth rate. For fertility decisions, defined outcome data and a personalized medical plan are more useful.
Three sensible starting points for a personal shortlist
These are not the three highest-ranked centers by clinical outcome. Their public information gives patients three distinct ways to begin a careful comparison.
- Royan, Tehran: its fertility-center site and separate women’s and male-factor team lists make it useful when both partners need evaluation. Ask for the actual assigned clinicians and the laboratory plan.
- Avicenna, Tehran: its English-language center site is a starting point when recurrent loss or a complex previous treatment history needs review. Confirm the relevant specialist and current international-patient process.
- Laleh Hospital IVF Department, Tehran: its specific IVF page lists laboratory and treatment services. Ask for a fully costed plan, the current clinician and what can be completed in one trip.
The right option could be different after a clinician reviews the case. Use the full patient guide for more detail on planning a fertility journey in Iran.
